Who are we?

The Catholic Women's League of Canada is a national organization rooted in gospel values calling its members to holiness through the people.

We are Catholic Women with a Catholic voice living out the Gospel in words, deeds and actions. We are dedicated to helping our brothers and sisters in need at home.

Where are we?

There is CWL representation in over 71 dioceses throughout Canada. In Ontario there are 13 dioceses, with 95 councils in Toronto alone!

What do we do?

We are involved in charitable works of all kinds, and with issues of social justice that affect family life.

Our Members endeavour to exert influence on issues pertaining to peace, social justice, and legislation involving the family. As women with a voice, we can be involved in ongoing efforts to defend and monitor legislation at all levels of government on issues that affect our Catholic values.

On a personal level, the League offers its members the opportunity to develop and learn new skills, which will enable you to fulfil the mission of service to one another, to the parish and to the church.

Who do we support?

Nearly $4,000 was raised by the CWL of St. Bartholomew's in 2016. This money went to support the following charities:

  • Development & Peace
  • Catholic Family Services
  • Rosalie Hall
  • Euthanasia Prevention Coalition
  • St. Michael's Scholarship
  • Bishop Pappin Memorial Bursary Fund To Aid Seminarians
  • Hope for Children Scholarship Fund
  • Mater Care (An International Catholic Organization Caring For Mothers & Babies)
  • Out of the Cold Program
  • Chalice sponsored child in Peru
  • St. Vincent de Paul Society
  • Refugee Families of St Bartholomew
  • St. Bartholomew's Building Fund
  • Alberta Forest Fires Relief Fund
  • Mikinakoos Children's Fund
  • Knights of Columbus of St. Bartholomew
  • Sisters of St. Peter Claver
  • Covenant House

Is the Catholic Women's League for you?

YES! The League has a positive voice for good in the Church today and you could be a part of that. Pastors who have been interviewed agree that their parish would not be the same without a CWL. As members you will find new interests, make new friends and have an opportunity to make a difference in the church and society.

All women of the parish are invited to join the CWL. Meetings are held at 7:00 pm on the last Tuesday of every month, in the choir room.

Our monthly meetings consist of a time for prayers and business discussions, but also include a social aspect. The average length of time for a meeting is about 1.5 hours. We do not meet during the months of June, July and August. Usually for the month of June we enjoy a social evening out. In early December we enjoy a Christmas party.

Our Lady of Good Counsel is our Patroness.

Please come and join other Catholic women of all ages on a journey of faith, fun, and friendship!
